STCC is offering training for volunteer advocates who wish to help those impacted by sexual assault. During training, advocates will learn about topics concerning sexual abuse and counseling including general facts about sexual abuse, sexual harassment, the medical and legal processes, victim impact, healing from sexual assault, crisis intervention skills, and general counseling skills.
Volunteer Advocates:
Provide support, information, and referrals to the local hospital
Carry a cell phone and must be able to respond within 30 minutes to the local hospital
Take one shift each month to be on call. Shifts are M-Th 5PM - 8AM or Friday at 5PM - Monday at 8AM.
Volunteer opportunities are also available in other areas:
Assisting with setting up and staffing information tables
Assisting with planning of Sexual Assault Awareness Month (SAAM) events
Distributing posters and brochures
Other things as needed
